Melvin Allen Peabody died June 2, 2011. Mel was born October 10, 1940 in Barre, VT. He spent his childhood in Massachusetts until he joined the Marines. Mel met the love of his life, Marcela, in Monterrey, Mexico. After 47 1/2 years of marriage, he is survived by his wife Marcela Yolanda, six children, eight grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and siblings Donna DeMaria, Fred Young, and Joyce Volpe. Mel's education culminated in him earning a B.A.in Business, Bachelor of Laws, M.A. in Human Behavior, M.B.A., M.A. in Theological Studies and PhD in Theology. He began his professional career in the engineering field working for several of the largest aerospace companies then went to serve with Mexican Medical as a missionary then president. Viewing June 9, 2011 at 6 to 8 p.m. at National City Mortuary, 611 Highland Ave., National City. Burial June 10th at 2 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, 4300 Imperial Ave., San Diego, and Memorial June 16th at 4 p.m. at Jamul Community Church, 14058 Jamul Dr., Jamul. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions towards funeral costs that may be sent to Mexican Medical Ministries, 7850 Lester Ave. Lemon Grove, CA 91945, indicate Mel Peabody fund.
