On November 8, 1952, he married Marlene Grenfell in Milwaukee, WI.
Richard enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Korean War, where he earned two Purple Hearts.
After returning from the war, he worked at Nodell Cadillac for 13 years and then Uncle August Sausage as a truck driver for several years.
After retiring, he and Marlene moved to Marinette, WI. He was a life member of the VFW 1887, DAV Chapter 25 and the Military Order of the Purple Heart. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, bingo and trips to Las Vegas.
Richard is survived by his wife, Marlene;
a son, Brian (Judi) Dielen of Menomonee Falls, WI;
a daughter, Deborah (Les) Pace of Marinette, WI;
four grandchildren: Amy (fiance, Scott) Pace, Christopher (Joan) Pace, Nicole (Paul) Ciganek and Michael Dielen;
seven great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Robert; and a sister Darlene Dielen.
Friends may call at Thielen Funeral Home in Marinette on Wednesday, April 13th, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The DAV will do a service at 11 a.m.
Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery.
