Minerva had a long career in education, teaching high school from 1942 to 1982; the last 36 years teaching alongside her husband in Durand Schools. She received her Bachelor's degree from Central Michigan University in 1942, and her Master's degree from the University of Michigan in 1974. In 1998, she received a national award of Congregational Woman of the Year, and served as local chapter president of the Michigan Association of Retired School Personal for a number of years.
