Dennis “Fox” John Nelson, 81, of Menominee, MI passed away in Menominee on Saturday, April 9, 2016. He was born in Marinette, Wis. to the late Carl and Lucille (Lemanski) Nelson.

Dennis graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes High School class of 1952. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Dennis worked at the former Ansul Company for over 25 years, retiring in 1989 as a Lab Technician in the Dry Chemical Department. He was a member of the American Legion Post 146. He also was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed following the Green Bay Packers.

Dennis is survived by six sisters including: Joan Larson of Folsom, Calif.; Val LeBoeuf and Camille Loewecke, both of Menominee, Mich.; Bianca (John) Anderla of Appleton, Wis.; Cynthia Hanlon of Boron, Calif. and Merri (Ray) Gansebom of Peshtigo, Wis.;
one brother, Peter (Cecelia) Nelson of Riverside, Ill.;
a sister-in-law, Pat Nelson;
special friend, Gary Moffatt,
nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by his son, Dennis “Buffy” Nelson and his brother Carl “Bunny” Nelson.

Visitation will take place at the Cadieu-Thielen Funeral Home on Monday, April 18, 2016 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. The Vigil prayer service will begin at 6 p.m. with Deacon Jerome Thetreau presiding. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, for the repose of the soul of Dennis John Nelson, on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Menominee with Fr. Karl Kiser SJ presiding.
Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Marinette, Wis. with military honors by the Military 20 Year Club.
