THOMAS WHITFIELD MOSS JR, 78, died peacefully at this home on Saturday, December 5, 2009. Tom was born and raised in Waco, TX. He earned a BBA Degree from Baylor University and MBA Degree from The University of Texas. He served in the US Army during the Korean War at Ft Hood and Ft Sam Houston for the US Army Audit Agency. He was a Certified Public Accountant and practiced this profession in Houston since 1958 as Moss & Co. Tom was very pleased to have been involved with the formation of the Dr. Pepper Museum in Waco and served later as its president. He was a long-time faithful Methodist. He taught an adult Sunday school class for 20 years at First United Methodist Church in Houston and served as a lifetime member of the Administrative Board. He sponsored annual symposiums for the congregation through a trust in memory of his wife Genevieve's grandfather, The Rev W. M. Murrell. Tom was known among friends as one of the most generous men of their age, being especially generous to his alma maters, his church, his family and his friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Genevieve Boswell, and sons, Michael and girlfriend, Laura and Marshall and wife, Jennifer. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 am on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at First United Methodist Church, 1320 Main at Clay, where an 11 am funeral service will be held. Interment will follow at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church.
