Joan E. Jenkins, 94, of Las Vegas, passed away April 5, 2016. She was born Sept. 17, 1921, in Indiana to William and Ina Englert, and was a resident of Las Vegas since 1972. Foremost, and number one priority, the wife, mother and grandmother. Prior to retirement in 1987, she was employed in the Indiana Public School System for 15 years, followed by 15 years of employment by Administrators of Union Trusts in Las Vegas. She was preceded in death by her husband, of 55 years, Douglas H. Jenkins; grandson, Daniel H. Jenkins, daughter-in-law, Lois Jenkins; and sister, Patricia Campbell. She is survived by her two sons and daughter Douglas H. Jenkins Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colo., Gregory H. Jenkins of Chicago, and Janice J. Jenkins of Las Vegas; grandson Douglas H. Jenkins III and his wife, Barbara; great-grandson, Douglas H. Jenkins IV; sister, Marilyn Hintz of Norwalk, Calif.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Friday, April 15, with service following, both at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., in Las Vegas. In lieu of flowers, donations to be made to the American Lung Association .
