Actress. Often cast in roles of motherly figures, notably of Italian origin, she will be fondly remembered for playing 'Marie Barone' in the TV series "Everybody Loves Raymond" (1996 to 2005). Born Doris May Green, to a Russian-Jewish mother, Doris caught the acting bug at an early age and first performed during a production while in kindergarden. Her father abandoned her family prior to her teenage years and following her mother's remarrying, she took her stepfather's last name Roberts. After her family relocated to New York, she was raised in the Bronx and briefly attended New York University, prior to focusing fully on an acting career. Her lengthy association with television began during the early 1950s with an episode from the program "Starlight Theatre" and a decade later, she marked her motion picture debut in "Something Wild" (1961). She enjoyed more than two-decades on the Broadway stage and may be best remembered for playing 'Jeanette Fisher' in Neil Simons' "The Last of the Red Hot Lovers" (1969 to 1971). She earned numerous Emmy Awards including one for an episode of the TV series "St. Elsewhere" (1983) and several more for "Everybody Loves Raymond." Other memorable TV roles include playing 'Theresa Falco' in "Angie" (1979 to 1980) and 'Mildred Krebs' in "Remington Steele" (1983 to 1987).

She doesn't give in.
She doesn't give up.
And she never takes no for an answer."
