Lucille was one of 17 children born to Mary Anne Byrne & James Francis Kaney.

Lucille was married to Maxwell Clifford Twombley.
After living in WI and Illinois, she moved to Long Beach, CA sometime before 1938.

Lucille and her husband Max Twombley raised their niece, Idonna Marie Johnson Tryon (1938-2015), as their own daughter when Lucille's sister (Idonna's mother) Florence Evangeline Kaney Johnson died after childbirth. Lucille's brother, Wilfred Kaney and his wife Madelyn were godparents to Idonna.

Lucille was also the mother of Terry Twombley, her infant son that died in 1945 at 12 days old.
