Ernest married Edna Irene Ulrich on September 4, 1920, in Freeport, Stephenson County, Illinois. Edna was born September 27, 1894, in Freeport, Stephenson County, Illinois, the daughter of John and Sophia F. (Mielenz) Ulrich. Ernest and Edna had the following known children:
1. Shirley Jean (Rosenstiel) Krusey (1924-2009)
2. Ruth Irene (Rosenstiel) Schipfer (1927-2013)
Ernest died February 7, 1973, in Hillsborough County, Florida. Edna died October 30, 1976, in Hillsborough County, Florida.

Ernest F. Rosenstiel, 1425 Dexter Drive, Clearwater, Fla., who formerly resided in Freeport, died Tuesday in a Tampa (Fla.) Hospital.
Before retiring to Florida, he was employed as a Freeport mail carrier for 38 years. He was a 55-year member of the American Legion, a 50-year member of Excelsior Masonic Lodge, and a member of Capernaum Shrine and Order of Eastern Star in Freeport, and the United Methodist Skycrest Church of Clearwater.
He was born Sept. 20, 1894, in Harlem Township. He married Irene Ulrich in Freeport. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary recently.
Surviving are his widow; two daughters, Mrs. George (Shirley) Kruse of Temple Terrace, Fla., and Mrs. Ruth Schepfer of Brandon, Fla.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be Saturday in Moss Funeral Home, Clearwater. Burial will be in Sylvan Abbey Cemetery.
