Kenneth R. Bessert, age 88, a Manitowoc resident, died Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at his residence.

Kenneth was born on December 4, 1927 in Brillion, son of the late Martin H. & Augusta (Janke) Bessert. He married the former Margaret "Peggy" Jagemann and she preceded him in death on April 29, 2015. Kenneth was a master carpenter for JJ Schmidt Lumber Company.

Survivors include his seven children: Mary & Douglas Schultz, Susanna & Robert Krcma, Kathleen & John Dodge, Judith & Jerome Backus, Cynthia Elfner, Debra & Randall Mrozinsky, all of Manitowoc, Kenneth M. & Doreen Bessert Jr., Valders; 22 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and one sister: Diane Crowe, Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was also preceded in death by one grandson: Kenneth Bessert III, two sisters and two brothers.

Cremation has occurred at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc. A private family service will be held at a later date. Kenneth's cremated remains will be laid to rest at Knollwood Mausoleum, town of Kossuth.
