James Vaughn Seger, 83, Milaca, died Friday, April 29, 2016.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 7, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Milaca with Rev. Tim Bauer officiating. Interment with military honors followed at Forest Hill Cemetery in Milaca.

Arrangements were by Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home, Milaca.

Jim was born May 25, 1932, to Wilfred and Berniece (Fox) Seger in Holt County, NE. He graduated from Stuart High School in 1950. He married DeLores Karo June 4, 1951, and shortly thereafter, shipped out with the US Marines and served in the Korean Conflict on the USS Manchester. After his return, DeLores joined him in California where they lived on a US Marine Base. After his discharge, the family returned to Newport, NE. They relocated to Milaca in 1965 in order to pursue Jim's dream of owning his own land. They raised beef and dairy cows and farmed for many years. He also worked for Ryan Construction.

He was an active member of the American Legion Post #178 and Trinity Lutheran Church in Milaca.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife DeLores; parents, Wilfred and Berniece; brother, Lowell; brothers-in-law, Bill Farr, Bob Fox and Max Karo; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Farr and Luella Karo; nephew, Jack Farr; and grandson-in-law, Cabot Bekius.
