James Joseph "Jimmy" Serpas, Jr., age 85, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at the Louisiana Veterans Home in Jackson. Jimmy served his country in the US Army and was a recipient of the Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Medal and was honorably discharged in 1951 with the rank of corporal; he was also a graduate of Loyola University. He was born April 18, 1928 in New Orleans, LA, the son of the late James and Catherine Serpas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Catherine P. Serpas; a sister, and Carroll J. Serpas; a brother. Survivors include his wife and four sons, June Serpas, Timmy Serpas, Mike Serpas and Richard Serpas of Baton Rouge, and Pat Serpas of Bartow, FL, his brother Albert J. Serpas of Issaquah, WA, his sister Claire S. Bonee of Metairie, LA, six grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. Jimmy was a pharmacist, most recently at the Villa Feliciana Medical Complex in Jackson. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 26 at 2 PM in the chapel of the LA Veterans Home in Jackson. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the LA Veterans Home in Jackson, 4739 Hwy 10, Jackson, LA 70748.
