Thomas Dawson Posey Obituary
1927 - 2016
March 2, 1927-May 11, 2016 Mr. Thomas Dawson Posey, 89, died peacefully at his home on May 11, 2016.

Heaven is rejoicing in receiving this wonderful man of God. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Vick Posey. They were married for 36 years. He took an early retirement from Honeywell to care for her until her death in 1990.

He is survived by his current wife of 20 years, Clara Pierce Posey, his children, Teresa Posey Capra (Philip), Vicki Posey Rogers (William), Dawson Posey Gentry and stepson, Tim Pierce. His grandchildren, Jacob and Sarah Rogers, Claire and Thomas Capra, Emily Capra Creel (Joseph), Amanda Hartley, Bradley Pierce and Ashley Pierce Smith (Steven) all loved their PawPaw. He also has one great-grandchild, McKenzie Smith.

He served faithfully as a deacon, choir member, and regular biscuit buddy at his church, Community Baptist, and will be missed greatly by the members. Mr. Posey served our country in World War II as a Merchant Marine, and also in the Korean Conflict as a Sergeant in the Army. Until recently, he was delivering bread to local charities, always saving some for families he knew were in need. He was a member and past Mason in the Masonic Lodge for sixty years. As a Shriner, he transported children for burn treatments to the Shriner's Hospitals for Children-Greenville (South Carolina).

The family will receive family and friends on Friday, May 13th, from 12:30 until 2:00 at Community Baptist Church, 8254 Highway 17 in Maylene. The service will commence at 2:00 and military burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Labre Indian School (Ashland MT 59004-1001) or The Foundry (1801 Fifth Avenue North, Bessemer, AL 35020).
