Mae Marian Adams was born Mae Marian Grant on June 2, 1921 in Nashville, Tennessee and the youngest daughter of the late Reverend John Henry Grant and Mary Louise Kirk-Grant. One son, Junius Stevenson, preceded her in death. She leaves one son Welton DeWitt Gite (Margaret); one grandson Taylor Gite; two nephews, Juan Nabors (Rosagene) of New Jersey; William Grant Nabors of Geneva, Switzerland; and three nieces, Melanie Emery and Mary Lynn Wasim both of Cleveland, Ohio and Dorothy Lee Grant of Michigan.Mrs. Adams graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Columbia, S.C. and attended Allen University in Columbia and Tennessee State University in Nashville, TN.. She accepted her first government position in Washington, D.C. in 1942 and continued working for the government completing over 40 years in service. Her last position was with the Dept. of State, Passport Agency until she retired in November 1992.Mrs. Adams was last married to William Adams January 10, 1969 until his death in 1972. She will be remembered by her family with love, for she gave us the greatest gift of all, her unconditional love
