Lt. Commander Ruell A. Searson, U.S.N. (ret.), of Clearwater, Florida, died on November 30, 2012.
Stretch Searson's hometown was Raphine, Virginia. At Woodberry he was a monitor and a member of the German club, the winter track team, and the golf team. Having served in the U.S. Merchant Marine in World War II, he
graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy. He later earned a master's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of California at Berkeley and began a career in petroleum engineering. He received his MBA from George Washington University.
Mr. Searson is survived by his wife, Jean P. Searson; a daugther, Patricia; a son, John R. Searson II '77; and six grandchildren. He was the father of the late Ruell A. Searson, Jr.'74.
