William G. Johnson, 77, of Menominee passed away peacefully with his wife holding his hand on Friday June 3, 2016 in Green Bay. He was born on March 23, 1939 in Duluth, MN to the late Antone and Christine (Hansen) Johnson. His father left the family when Bill was very young and Bill was blessed with a true father when his mom married Adolf Maske. Bill moved to Marinette as a child and was a 1958 graduate of Marinette High School. After high school Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for nine years, eleven months and twenty nine days, including a tour in Vietnam. He worked for General Motors in flint, MI for thirty years. Bill was married to Donna Grenier on May 3, 2006 in St. Ignace. He was a proud American and flew the flag every day. Bill was well known for his uncanny sense of humor. He enjoyed four wheeling, collecting eagles, casinos, riding on back roads, going to the Soo and St. Ignace, Koegel’s hot dogs and the Minnesota Vikings. Bill is survived by his wife Donna, three daughters: Penney (Randy) Hammond of Montrose, MI, Kelly (Jason) Zorn and Shannon (Brian) Shepeck both of Menominee; two sons Michael Johnson of Montrose, MI and Sean Hunter of Menominee; and eight grandchildren: Ryan, Shelby, Emily and Taryn Hammond and Kylie Zorn, Kayla, Hunter and Brennan Shepeck. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Herbert and a sister Joyce Reidell. Friends may call at the Thielen Funeral Home-Marinette on June 12th from 2pm to 4pm. Military Honors will be performed by the Military Twenty Year Club at 3:45pm. Funeral Services will be held at 4pm with Deacon Jerome Thetreau officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery.
