GORRIE: Christina-It is with heartfelt sorrow we announce that after a lengthy battle with cancer, our Mother passed away at home May 23, 1999. Chrissie was predeceased by her husband Dr. Bill Gorrie, her parents, Angus and Peggy MacAulay, sister Ina McLeod, brothers, Geordie and Murdo MacAulay, brothers-in-law Alan Biggs, Ken and Morley Gorrie. Left to cherish her memory are her children Christine (Ted) Sudol, Billy (Gail) Gorrie and Sandy (Michal) McKernan; grandchildren Michael and Kelly Sudol, Matthew and Nigel McKernan; sister Cathie Biggs of Garson, Jack (Val) MacAulay of Vancouver, Mary (Don) Morgan of Dauphin; sisters-in-law Agnes MacAulay of Killarney, Merle MacAulay of Winnipeg, brothers-in-law Elwood (Treva) Gorrie of Brandon, Jack (Joyce) Gorrie of Waterton Lakes, Don McLeod, sister-in-law Edith Gorrie, as well as many nieces, nephews, close friends and extended family. Chrissie was born August 6, 1923 in Dunrea, MB, the oldest of seven children. She attended Business College in Brandon and then worked for the Mutual Insurance Company in Wawanesa, where she met her future husband, Bill. Chrissie and Bill raised their family in Elkhorn, Virden, Maddock, North Dakota, and Winnipeg. During these years, they made many life-long friends. She was very proud of her Scottish heritage and could speak Gaelic fluently. She always enjoyed gatherings of family and friends. Chrissie always gave of her time to everyone and especially loved her grandchildren. It is hard to describe the essence of our Mother, to fully appreciate what she meant to the people who knew and loved her. Those people know. It is extremely difficult to express how much she was loved and how much she'll be missed. The family wishes to thank Dr. Jan Mulder, Dr. P. Petrenko, Dr. Lezak, the nurses in the Oncology Departments at the Grace and Misericordia Hospitals, especially Debbie Hurle, Shirley from V.O.N. and Pastor Glen Krentz of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. A special thank you to Ruth Ziemski for whom our Mother had a special place in her heart. Viewing at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Friday, June 4, 1999, 7:00-9:00 p.m. A service celebrating Chrissie's life will be held Saturday, June 5, 1999, 10:30 a.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 637 Buckingham Road, in Charleswood. Interment to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will take place in the Chapel Lawn Reception Centre. A donation in Chrissie's name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, or a Children's Charity of your choice.
