Hughes Jefferson Warden was a Confederate Soldier with the 16th Virginia Cavalry. Hughes was a 1st Lieutenant in Co. B. He enlisted April 7, 1862 and was last present on roll call January 1865 where he was promoted to 1st Lieutenant. It is possible he was killed at the Battle of Appomattox Courthouse or refused to pledge his allegiance and went into hiding.
