Pulitzer Prize-winning Poet, Historian and Political Theorist. He received a Pulitzer Prize in 1949 for his collection of poems "Terror and Decorum: Poems 1940-1948" (Scribner, 1948). He was a Professor emeritus of history at Mount Holyoke College for 50 years. A graduate of Harvard earning a bachelor's, master's and Ph.D in history. He is credited with influencing an intellectual movement that defined modern American conservatism in the post WWII era.
