SILOAM SPRING
Dr. John L. Stockton, 71, of Siloam Springs, a retired dentist and captain in the Navy Reserves, died Monday. He was past president of the Siloam Springs Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club, a multi-term member of the city council, a Mason, and past commander of the Siloam Springs Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a World War II Navy veteran, a recipient of the Silver Star for Heroism at Guadalcanal, and a Methodist. Survivors are his wife, Martha "Bitsy" Holcombe Stockton; two sons, Jim and Stan Stockton of Harrison; a sister, Luanne Selby of Tulsa, Okla.; and five grandchildren. Funeral was Thursday at Wasson Memorial Chapel in Siloam Springs. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Siloam Springs.
