William was the son of David Comley and Lucy Edwards. On 01 Jun 1848 he married Elizabeth Hurt and they had six children: Isaiah, Ellen, Annie, William, James and Elizabeth. William was a Civil War Veteran who enlisted in E Company of the 29th Illinois U.S. Infantry. He was a farmer. William died of injuries incurred after being thrown from a spring-wagon. He was about 61 years old.
