Michael D. Rasmussen 38 of Fitchburg passed away in Pembine on Wednesday, June 15th, 2016 in confrontation with Marinette County deputies. He was born on May 23, 1978, to Don and Karen (Egen) Rasmussen in Marinette. He graduated from UW Green Bay with a double major in Biology and Chemistry and had worked many years as a chemist at Quincy Bioscience, Madison, WI. His family was very dear to him. He loved his job and his many friends in Madison. In his earlier years, he was an avid skate boarder and snowboarder, and a talented pool player. He loved fishing, especially for sturgeon below the Hattie St. dam, hiking, camping, and grilling out with friends. He collected all types of music and CD’s. He enjoyed turtles, snakes, animals, especially cats, good books, good food, jigsaw puzzles, and cross word puzzles. He especially delighted in making people laugh. Remember him in enjoying nature and beautiful sunsets. Mike is survived by his parents, Don and Karen Rasmussen of Marinette; two brothers, Mark (Lori) Rasmussen of Asheville, NC and Erik (Annette) Rasmussen of Marinette; aunt, Sue Egen of Marinette; uncles: Dan (Becky) Egen of Cathlamet, WA, Jim (Sandy) Rasmussen of Kentucky, and Tom Rasmussen of Beaver Dam; nieces, Andie Lynne marie Rasmussen and Allie Rose Rasmussen; nephew, Adrian James Rasmussen all of Marinette; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and uncle, David Egen. A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Parish-Our Lady of Lourdes Church on Friday, June 24th at 4pm with Rev. Celestine Byekwaso officiating. There will be a luncheon to follow service. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery. A Memorial Fund has been established.
