Laura Evelyn Prom, age 93, of Mankato, died Tuesday, October 31, 2006 at Immanuel – St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 4, 2006 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Marysburg with Rev. Edwin Savundra officiating. Burial will be in Marysburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7:30 p.m., Friday at Mankato Mortuary with a 4:45 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Saturday.

Laura was born on April 7, 1913 in Fort Dodge, IA to Andrew and Ida (DeWinter) Johnson. She was their sixth child out of fourteen. She was educated in Vincent, IA and Alden, MN and graduated from Wells High School in 1930. She graduated from Wells Normal Training for teachers in 1931. She worked for Ben Piesers until December of 1934, and then went to Hollywood of Beauty Culture graduating in 1935. She was united in marriage to Arthur Prom on January 14, 1936 at The Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, IA. They lived in North Mankato for 26 years and then moved to Mankato for 6 years. They then moved to Madison Lake where they lived for 23 years. Laura worked at JC Penney's for a number of years before moving to Lake Jefferson. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Marysburg, a former member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato, a hospital volunteer, member of American Red Cross, ABWA, and the hospital auxiliary. She enjoyed baking, church work, dancing, playing cards, and exercising. Laura will be remembered for her good sense of humor.

She is survived by three children, James (Elaine) Prom of Tempe, AZ, David (Diane) Prom of Good Thunder, and Joyce (Don) Adams of Madison Lake; nine grandchildren; three step- grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; five great-step-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; three brothers, Andrew (Clarise) Johnson, LaVerne Johnson, and Robert (Wilma) Johnson all of Wells; one sister, Darlene Redman of Wells; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Laura was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur; grandson, Kyle; great-grandson, Kelly; three brothers; and six sisters.
