Charles was a son of Mary (Zimmerman) & Stephen Hutchins. He had 3 siblings: Mary Zimmerman, Sarah Elizabeth & Stephen Curtis. He first married Elizabeth H. Talmadge on November 11, 1854 in Troy, NY. They had 4 children: Newton Curtis, Mary Cecilia, Howard Zimmerman & George Oliver. After Elizabeth died in 1866, he married Mary Taber Baldwin on May 16, 1867 in Charlottesville, NY. They had a son, Justin Maynard. Charles was an architect and builder.
He lived in Watervliet, NY at the time of his death and died from "Osteitis sarcoma of femur".
