In 1942, Charles graduated from Marinette High School and joined the United States Army Air Corps. He worked on radar for the big planes in Italy and Europe, and at the end of World War II, he was honorably discharged. He was a member of American Legion Post #39.
On September 20, 1952, Charles married Ruby Beaudoin at the Precious Blood Church in Stephenson, MI. He was also a founding member of First Trinity Lutheran Church in Marinette. Charles worked for Wisconsin Bell, and later he and two friends (Jerry and Bob) had their own phone company, JOB Communications in Marinette.
Charles enjoyed being on the Town of Peshtigo Board of Supervisors.
He loved Ruby and his family, meeting his friends at the coffee shops, traveling, driving his car, hunting and fishing and telephone technology. He had a lifelong fascination with electricity – from radios, radar and telephones to his defibrillator and all of the electrical machines at the hospitals.
Charles is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruby;
his daughter, Paula;
as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Friends may call at Hansen-Onion-Martell funeral home from 3 until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, June 24, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Christian Eisenbeis officiating.
Entombment will be in Forest Home Mausoleum.
