Various records indicate her first name differently: Sophenia; Sophena; Sophina, Sophia, Safrona and Sarah. Her surnames will vary in records, as well. I have found miscellaneous spellings of DAYMUDE, KINSEL and PEASE throughout her lifetime.

Sophena's father was believed to be Jacob John DAYMUDE. It is unclear who her mother was. When she was 15-years-old, she became the ward of John KINSEL, whom she later married on 03-09-1829 in Loudoun Co, VA, when she was about 19-years-old. You will see her in the 1860 Dry Grove, McLean County, Illinois as Saphrona KINSELL.

John KINSEL/KINSELL and Sophena relocated from Loudoun Co., VA. between the mid to late 1830's to Perry Co, OH. By the 1850 Census, they were in the Madison Twp., Franklin Co., OH. area. After 1850, they moved again to McLean Co, IL where John died in 1852. He is believed to be buried somewhere near Bloomington/Normal area of McLean Co., IL. No marked grave has been found for him as of this posting and revision 11-04-2018.

Sophena married for the second time to the twice widowed Harvey/Henry PEASE 12-29-1863 in McLean Co,IL. She is listed in the 1870 Farmer City, Bellflower Township, McLean County, Illinois Census as Sarah A. PEAS, living in the household of her son-in-law, William GARDNER, who was married to Sophena's daughter, "Ellen" Sarah Ellen [KINSELL] GARDNER. It is unclear when Henry PEASE actually died, but Sophena moved on to Ringgold Co, IA with her son, "J.W./Joy" John William KINSEL, where they are both buried in the Tingley Cemetery.

One of Sophena's brothers, James Fenton DAYMUDE, married "Nancy" Frances Ann KINSEL, a sister of John KINSEL, who moved from VA to live in Perry Co, OH near their respective families. James and Nancy also moved to IL, but to Larkinsburg Twp, Clay Co. James and Nancy are buried in Ruffner Cemetery, in Mason Township, Effingham County, Illinois.

Another of Sophena's brothers, Jacob DAYMUDE, also moved from VA to Perry Co, OH. Jacob and his wife, Mary Ann SPICER, relocated to Union Co, OH where he died. Jacob and Mary Ann are buried in the Claibourne Cemetery in Union County, Ohio.

John KINSEL/KINSELL and his wife Sophena DAYMUDE had at least 8 children:
1. "Kate" Catherine A. KINSELL who married first to Robert REEDY; secondly to Edward C. SALISBURY;
2. Margaret A. KENSEL/KINSELL who married George Walker SKIDMORE
3. Child-03 (male) KINSELL born between 1832-1835, according to 1840 US Federal Census
4. Child-04 (female) KINSELL born between 1835-1840, according to 1840 US Federal Census
5. Jacob Alton KINSELL who married "Emma/Virginia" Emily Virginia LANDES/LANDIS
6. Nancy Jane KINSELL who married "Frank" Francis M. HAMPTON
7. "Joy/William" John William KINSELL who married "Bell/Belle" Isabelle M. POLLOCK
8. "Ellen/Ella" Sarah Ellen KINSELL who married William P. GARDNER
COMMENT: The 1840 Madison Twp., Franklin Co., OH. Census spelled their surname as KENSALE, which was an alternate spelling used in Virginia for previous Census & Tax records of John's father, Michael KINSEL/KINSELL/KENSALE/KENSAIL/KENSEL/KINSALE/KINSAIL/KENSOLE, etc.

Kate, Margaret and Jacob all stayed in McLean County, IL; Nancy Jane and John William moved to Iowa. Their youngest sister Sarah Ellen moved to Nebraska.
