Jacob Austin Mickael, son of George and Ellen Mickael, was born in Ross County, OH., December 5, 1852 and departed this life at the family home near Kellerton, IA, June 23, 1924 aged 71 years, six months and eighteen days.

In 1867, he moved with his parents to Ringgold County, where he grew to manhood. He was united in marriage to Carrie Chumley February 15, 1879. To this union thirteen children were born, eight boys and five girls. Three children preceded the father in death, two boys and one girl, George, Abraham and Goldie.

He is survived by his wife and ten children, Roy and Charles of Mount Ayr, IA; James Mickael, of Goodland, KS; Mrs. Ida Simpson, Mrs. Dottie Higday, Mrs. Alta Todd, of Kellerton, IA; Mrs. Tina Hightshoe of Lamoni, IA; and Eunis, Hugh and Lloyd at home. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Kate Zink of Olympia, WA; and Mrs. Ellen Kinder of Goodland, KS; thirteen grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The death of Mr. Mickael marks the passing of one of the pioneers of Ringgold County and one who took an active interest in the up-buildings of the community in which he lived. He was an active and respected member of the Odd Fellows lodge, being for many years a member of the Caledonia lodge and later transferring his membership to the Mount Ayr lodge.
