Harold Lloyd Herzberg, 87 passed away on May 23, 2016 at his home in Salton Sea Beach, California. He was born on the family farm in Ivanhoe Twp., Renville County, North Dakota on August 31, 1928. Harold was the sixth of eight children born to Frederick & Nina (Block) Herzberg and his parents and all of his siblings had preceded him in death.
He was raised on the Ivanhoe Township farm and attended country school in that township. He attended the Carpio High School in Carpio, North Dakota where he graduated with the Class of 1945. He married Viola Lee in Carpio in 1948. They farmed in that area after their marriage. They were blessed with one son, Craig Lloyd Herzberg,born July 5, 1952 and passed away March 1, 1972. The family moved to California in 1955 where Harold spent years working in the Piledriving & Bridge Building Construction. Upon retirement they moved from Whittier to Salton Sea Beach, because of his love of the desert, where he lived for 36 years.
Harold belonged to the Salton Sea Beach Fire Department for 20 years of which he was the Fire Chief for 18 years. He became an EMT to help the West Shores community form their own Ambulance Company and helped all of the organizations in what they needed.
A Celebration of Life was held on June 5, 2016 in Salton Sea Beach. He was buried by his son Craig at Rose Hill Cemetery in Whittier, California.
