The Rev. Dr. J. Wayte Fulton, Jr. was a U.S. Navy Chaplain and was retired after more than 30 years of service. He held the rank of Captain (O-6) in the U.S. Navy Reserves.
Rev. Dr. Fulton served during World War II as a Navy Chaplain. He became the senior pastor of Shenandoah Presbyterian Church (Miami, Fla.) in 1952. He was a founding correspondent of the magazine "Christianity Today," and served as a trustee of Davidson College, King College, and Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia.
He is survived by his wife Jerry and their five daughters, as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Graduate of George Washington High School of Danville. Virginia. He was graduated from Davidson College in 1933. Davidson's Alumni Service Award recognizes living alumni and friends of Davidson who have performed a high degree of service to the college. Dr. J. He received a doctor of Divinity degree from Union Theological Seminary/PSCE, Richmond, Virginia.
