Shirley Catherine Andrews was born April 24, 1934 in Emmetsburg, Iowa to William and Mary (Williams) Grossnickle. She grew up in the Evanston area and graduated from Lehigh High School. She was united in marriage to Benjamin Andrews on February 20, 1954 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. The couple settled on a farm near Burnside and later moved to their acreage in Evanston. Shirley worked several jobs throughout her career including D. L. Clover Farm, Morton Foods making pies, Budget Host Hotel, owned and operated the Evanston Grocery Store and worked for her grandson at Riverbend Outdoors Bait Store. Shirley also sold Avon and Amway products. She enjoyed collecting dolls bells and angels. She also enjoyed sewing, baking, singing, fishing and camping. She was a member of First Christian Church.
Shirley is survived by three sons; Douglas, David (Sally) and Benjamin Jr (Maggie) all of Evanston, 17 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Darrell “Butch” (Sandra) Grossnickle of Fort Dodge and sister-in-law Dorothy Grossnickle of Lehigh.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Randal, and 11 siblings; Bertha Evans, Beulah Sturges, Francis Mundees, Evelyn Grossnickle, William Grossnickle Jr, Lucille Johnson, Lauretta Andrews, Earl Grossnickle, Virgil Grossnickle, Richard Grossnickle and Gerald Grossnickle.
