Kenneth E. Cady passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at his Fortuna home surrounded by his family after a lengthy illness at age 77. He was born in Ferndale on October 2, 1931. He attended Port Kenyon elementary and Ferndale Elementary schools and graduated from Ferndale High School in the class of 1950. He spent 4 years in the US Navy, serving in Korea. He then served in the National Guard in Carson City, NV. After returning to Ferndale, he became a member of the American Legion Post and worked various jobs until he started at Humboldt Creamery where he worked for 22 years until his retirement. In his younger years, he liked to hunt and fish. He always had a workshop and projects that kept him busy from woodworking to repairs. He remained a dedicated "Ferndale Wildcat" fan and rooted for the 49er's and enjoyed watching NASCAR. In his later years, he read many western novels. He had a love for dogs and had many special pets throughout his lifetime. He is survived by his wife, his daughter and son-in-law, his son, daughter-in-law, three precious grandchildren. He is also survived by many special nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Alvin and Elva Cady; his brother, William Cady and his sister, Dorothy Holbrook Silva.
