Daniel Edward Rhoat, age 76 of Kalkaska, MI, a retired employee of the Michigan Department of Transportation, died April 13, 1983 at his residence. Mr. Rhoat was a lifelong resident of Kalkaska, and retired from M.D.O.T in 1968. He was born in Pennsylvania on May 28, 1906, son of the late John and Elsie (Brode) Rhoat.

On September 17, 1927 in Newberry, MI, he was united in marriage with Dorothy Bennett. She preceded him in death on January 17, 1981.

Surviving are a son Gordon of Kalkaska, MI; a daughter Mrs. Betty Bogart of Kalkaska, MI; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Charles, Edward and James and one sister Mrs. Evelyn Houck.

Funeral services were held April 16, 1983 at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. The Rev. Fraser Vipond officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery of Kalkaska.
