Lieutenant General George Wheeler.

He was the son of General Hugh Massy Wheeler [30 June 1789 - 27 June 1857] and Frances Matilda Marsden, of Ballywire, Co. Limerick.
General Hugh Massey Wheeler of the Bengal Infantry was killed in action at Cawnpore, India, in June 1857. His wife and a son were also killed at this time, often referred to as the Massacre of Cawnpore. He had served in the Indian Army for 54 years.

Margaret Alicia Massy, daughter of John Massy and Alicia Chadwick, married George Wheeler, son of General Hugh Massy Wheeler and Frances Matilda Marsden, on 11 August 1857, at Tipperary, Co. Tipperary, Ireland.

In the 1901 census, he and his family were living at Sadlierswell, Tipperary, Co. Tipperary.
He recorded that he was then 71 years of age and had been born in India.

Death.
George Wheeler, aged 81, a widower, a Lieutenant General, died on 11 July 1910 at Carbery, Kingstown [now Dun Laoghaire]
The cause of death was Aortic Stenosis, unknown duration, Cardiac Failure, 2 days, certified.
