The Rev. Ralph E. Starr will officiate in the Lamm & Witman Funeral Home, Wernersville. Burial will be made in the Hain's Church Cemetery, Wernersville.
Mr. Staudt, of 105 S. Walnut St., Wernersville, suffered an apparent heart attack as he was walking the trail with several other persons.
One hiker rushed to a phone and notified police. A state police helicopter was dispatched from Troop L headquarters in Reading and located the hiking party.
After attempts to revive him failed, he was taken to the Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon where he was dead on arrival.
The victim was born in Lower Heidelberg Township, a son of the late Charles K. and Eva A. (Bender) Staudt. He was employed as a machinist by the Ephrata Tool, Inc.
A member of St. John's (Hain's) United Church of Christ, Wernersville, he was a charter member of the Tulpehocken Settlement Historical Society and a life member of Williamson Lodge No. 307, F & AM, both of Womelsdorf.
He was also affiliated with the Lost Creek Rod & Gun Club, McAllisterville; Blue Mountain Eagle Hiking Club; and the Royal Arcanum of Reading.
Surviving are his widow, Sarah S. (Gerhard) Staudt; four sons: William C. and Douglas L., both of Wernersville; Quinten F. Jr., of Piedmont, W. Va.; and Phillip G., Mohrsville; and 11 grandchildren.
Three brothers: Elwood, Shartlesville; Kermit, Wernersville R.D. 1; and Arthur, Los Angeles, Calif.; and four sisters: Edith Staudt, Laureldale; Virgie, widow of Daniel Lamm, Shoemakersville; Elberta, wife of Amandon Lamm, Lebanon; and Thelma, wife of Paul E. Brown, Reading.
