BERNARD J. COPUS

(1917 - 1997)


Bernard J. Copus, Sr., age 79, of 903 Columbus St., Two Rivers, died Saturday afternoon, March 22, 1997, at his residence.


Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 1997, at Klein & Stangel Fuenral Home, Officiating at the service will be Rev. Paul Schumacher with burial to follow in Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Town of Kossuth.


He was born July 3, 1917, in Rising Sun, Wis., son of the late James and Blanche Dunn Copus. Bernard served as a veteran during World War II with the United States Army. He served two tours in the European Theatre from 1942 until December of 1946. On November, 21, 1945, he married the former Delores Groothoff at Wisconsin Dells, Wis. Bernard was employed with the Ashback Construction Co., Minn., Mirro Aluminum Co. and Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry.


Survivors include his wife, Delores Copus, Two Rivers; three sons and three daughters-in-law, Larry and Betty Copus, Beloit, Daniel and Ann Copus, Green Bay, Scott Copus, Plymouth and Lisa Copus, Manitowoc; seven daughters and four sons-in-law, Peggy and Dan Garst, Iowa, Suzanne Leach, Louisianna, Bonnie and Bill Junk, Two Rivers, Sheila and Francis Kosobucki, Two Rivers, Christine and Steve Stoltzman, Manitowoc, Bernadine Copus and fiancé, Brian Zenke, Manitowoc, Laura Copus and fiancé, Mike Nething, Manitowoc; five sisters and three brothers-in-law, Marge and Arnold Perkins, Madison, Ethel and Frank Voelke, Lake Delton, Wis., Mary and Wayne Harms, Indiana, Lillian Miller, LaCrosse, Violet Smith, Columbus, Ga.; 38 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren. He was also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a special friend, Allen Avery, Mishicot. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Bernard, Jr. and Francis; a daughter, Lois; two grandchildren, Christopher Copus and Tyler Copus, six brothers, one sister, two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law.


Friends may call at the Klein & Stangel Funeral Home on Wednesday morning, March 26, 1997, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.


The family would like to thank Holy Family Hospice for the excellent care and support they gave to Bernard and his family. We will miss you dearly.
