Marian L. Ruatti, 91, a lifelong resident of Marinette, WI fell asleep with Her Lord on Tuesday evening, August 16, 2016. She was born on June 19, 1925 to Charles W. and Meta (Schoenfeldt) Larson and lived her entire life in the same home.
Marian was a proud member of the Marinette High School Class of 1943, always active in class reunions and luncheons with fellow classmates. She worked at the Marinette Knitting Mill from 1943 to 1946.
On May 25, 1946, she married Lloyd "Wimpy" Ruatti at her father’s bedside in the Milwaukee VA Hospital. Lloyd preceded her in death in February of 1996.
Marian was employed by the Stephenson Public Library from 1968 until her retirement in 1990. Marian was a published writer, with a passion for both poetry and prose. Her hobby was searching genealogy requests that came into the library, without using a computer. She was also an avid reader. She was a lifelong member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, having served as church librarian for many years. Marian was a foster mother to ten foster children through the years.
Marian is survived by sons: Jon (Sandra) Ruatti of Allouez, WI and Richard Podoski of Marinette, WI.
five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild;
a special sister-in-law, Ethel Larson;
a brother-in-law, Anthony Ruatti;
nieces;
her Schoenfeldt and Larson relatives;
and special friend, Ellsworth Richlen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Elaine Butman; and two brothers, Robert and Richard Larson.
Visitation will be held at Hansen-Onion-Martell funeral home in Marinette on Saturday, August 20, 2016, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with the Reverend James Wendt officiating.
