FARRELL, ROSEMARY MARSHALL "DOLLY"

Rosemary Marshall "Dolly" Farrell, passed away peacefully at her home on March 5, 2008. Born August 27, 1920, in Little Rock, Arkansas, she moved to Birmingham at the age of 6. Rosemary graduated from Phillips High school and attended Birmingham Southern College, where she was a member of Kappa Delta sorority.

She was a vibrant, generous, loving, beautiful and charismatic mother, grandmother, and friend who lived life to its fullest.

She was an avid reader and loved music. Mrs. Farrell was a longtime member of Highlands United Methodist Church, The Country Club of Birmingham, and The Club.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, James Richard "Dick" Farrell; her parents, Don V. and Irma D. Marshall; stepmother, Carrie D. Marshall; and a sister, Winifred "Mickey" Briggs.

She is survived by her daughters, Marsha Meadows (Michael), Stella Brittain (Jimmy) and Rosemary Bailey (J.C.). Also left to treasure Dolly's memory are four grandchildren, Michael D. Meadows, Jr., Jennifer M. Allison (Andrew), Molly M. Palmer (John) and Andrew M. Bailey; and five great-grandchildren, Maggie and Kathryn Rasberry, Jackson Allison, Mason Palmer and Michael Meadows, III.

A Memorial service will be held in the Chapel of Highlands United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 9, 2008, preceded by a family graveside service at Elmwood Cemetery.

The family wants to express their love and appreciation to Mrs. Farrell's main caregivers, Mary Mack, Rosie Williams, Annette Bolden, and Jackie Cox.

Memorials honoring Rosemary Farrell may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Highlands United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.

Services are under the direction of Ridout's Valley Chapel (205)879-3401 in Homewood.
