Author, Publisher. Born in Barcelona, Catalunya, Spain, during the Spanish Civil War he was forced into exile in Mexico. There, he created the publishing house Ariel and a magazine for fellow exiles, "Quaderns de l'Exili." In 1948 Sales returned to Spain and began a successful writing career. He is best remembered for his books "Incerta Glòria" ("Uncertain Glory"), "Viatge d'un Moribund" (A Dying Man's Journey"), "Contes d'Ahir i Avui", and "Cartes a Màrius Torres".
