RESIDENT HERE FOR HALF CENTURY DIES; FUNERAL TUESDAY
Charles Ludwig Neumann, 75, died Saturday at 10:30 p.m. at his home, 600 State street. He had been in ill health for the last three months.
Mr. Neumann was born in Germany on November 25, 1869 and came to America in 1883. He moved to Merrill in 1889. He was a city employee.
He was married in Merrill on October 17, 1896 to Sophia Degner, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Arthur Neumann, Merrill, and Erwin Neumann, Nekoosa; two brothers, Fred Neumann, Tomahawk, and Gust Neumann, Gleason; eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A daughter, Mrs. Herbert Bettin, three brothers, Herman, John and Albert, and four sisters, Gusta, Anna, Louise and Mrs. Molly Kreiwald, preceded him in death.
Mr. Neumann was a member of St. Stephen's Evangelical and Reformed church.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday from the Taylor funeral home at 1:30 p.m. and from St. Stephen's church at 2 p.m. Rev. Ortwein, Wausau, will officiate. The body will lie in state at the funeral home until the hour of services, which will be private for relatives and very close friends. The services at the church will be public. Interment will be in the Merrill cemetery.

According to records, this is the only Neumann to be found in Block M suggesting this must be Charles and Sophie.
