RICHMOND, Ind. – Donald L. ‘Donnie’ Crass, Gold Star Father, age 51, of Richmond, died Wednesday, August 24, 2016, after a short illness.
Born November 5, 1964, in Richmond, Indiana, to Zeb and Mary Ann Bradley Crass, Donnie was a life-long resident of Richmond. He was a graduate of Richmond High School. Donnie served in the United States Marine Corps. He worked at Mosey Manufacturing as a supervisor before becoming an independent, over-the-road truck driver.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Lynne Shingledecker Crass, to whom he was married on April 22, 1984; daughter, Dusty Nichole (Casey) Letts of Lewisburg, Ohio; son, Devin James (Danielle) Crass of Richmond; grandchildren, Brenton and Xavier Throop, Kylie and Alexis Letts, and Bryson and Paisley Crass; mother, Mary Ann Coons; father, Zeb (Darlene) Crass; brothers, Nick and Jason (Lindsay) Crass; half and step-siblings; nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, LCpl Layton Bradly Crass and stepfather, Captain Bob Coons.
Visitation for Donald L. ‘Donnie’ Crass will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 29, 2016, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Armstrong officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by the Wayne County Honor Guard.
