Born Sept. 15, 1912, in Buffalo, N.Y., she attended Simmons College in Boston.
Mrs. George was employed as secretary to the dean of the School of Civil Engineering at the Illinois Institute of Technology. After her children were born, she became a homemaker.
In 1954, she returned to work as church secretary at the Second Presbyterian Church of Evanston, where she remained for 25 years.
Over the years, she also was a "housemother" to many Northwestern University graduate students who lodged in her home.
A music buff, Mrs. George played the violin. She also enjoyed reading, playing tennis, skiing and fishing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, H. Allan.
Survivors include daughters Wendy (Walter) Tibbetts of Carlisle, Pa., and Claudia (John Cook) George of Chicago; son Harry (Cita Scott) of Tucson, Ariz.; four grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Nov. 19 at Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago, with interment in Memorial Park Cemetery, Skokie.
