Ruth Ellen Grider Rites Held at Walnut Hill
Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Ellen Grider, 64, were held at the Walnut Hill Baptist Church on Saturday of last week. Revs. Roger Popplewell and Calvin Fields officiated.
Mrs. Grider died at the McDowell Hospital at Danville following five or six years of illness. She had been suffering from a heart ailment. Death came on the 13th.
She was the daughter of Jasper and Mattie Wilson Bell, and was born on September 13, 1896.
She was married to Josh Grider, who survives, on January 30, 1913, and became the mother of 15 children, six of whom survive.
The children are Delmer Grider, Lexington; Mrs. Decie Mason, Bryantsville; Mrs. Flora Lane, and Loyd, Denton, and Marvin Grider of this county. There are 21 grandchildren.
She is also survived by four brothers: Rastus, Raymond, and Vernice Bell, Greenwood, Ind., and Willie Bell, Cincinnati; four sisters: Mrs. Marie Thompson and Mrs. Patrie Seego, Greenwood, Ind., Mrs. Gertrude Thomas, Michigan, and Slathie.
Interment was in the church cemetery.
Bartle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
