First married to Mary Ann Wick 1817-1838 of Youngstown, OH (married in Youngstown, OH in Nov. 1837), then to Elizabeth Smith Burnett 1819-1856 on Sept. 22, 1842. First worked for canals, then with the Pennsylvania Railroad.

Father of 4 children by Elizabeth Smith (Burnett), who had one child named Robert Burnett by a first husband at the time she was married to Foster in 1842.
