U.S. Congressman. While as a teacher in Plainview, Nebraska, he studied medicine and graduated from Loyola Medical School, Chicago, Illinois, in 1918. He practiced medicine and surgery in Kimball, Nebraska (1919-42) and also served as a member of the U.S. Military Medical Reserve Corps. In addition he was Mayor of Kimball, (1933-34), a member of the Nebraska Legislature (1937-41) and the Nebraska State Health Director (1941-42). In 1943, he was elected as a Republican to the Seventy-eighth Congress and to the next seven succeeding Congresses, serving until 1959. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he served as director for the Office of Saline Water, Department of the Interior, Washington, D.C. (1959-61). After leaving politics, he lived in retirement Maryland, until his death.
