THURSDAY AUGUST 20, 1970 THE WRAY GAZETTE
"Funeral services were held last Thursday morning, August 13, 1970 for Baxter Hall Baird at the Methodist Church in Wray with Rev. Paul Holland officiating. Internment was held in the Grandview Cemetery.
Mr. Baird, fourth child of David and Alice Michael Baird, was born July 10,1899 at Matney, North Carolina and died at the Wray Community Hospital August 10 at the age of 71 years and 1 month, following a long illness.
At the age of three, he moved with his parents to Clinton, Oklahoma where he spent most of his boyhood. It was there that he joined the Methodist Church at the age of 16. When 19, he moved with his parents to Cambridge, Nebraska,where he made his home for 11 years.
On June 20, 1926 he was married to Lillian A Holiday. To this union two children were born.
Mr Baird was associated with Pat McKillip in a furniture and hardware store in Cambridge for a number of years. He moved to Stratton, Nebraska in 1935 where he worked as a car salesman and in 1939 was transferred to Wray.
He had been a member of Rotary and the Lions Club and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Wray Methodist Church. He was a very enthusiastic sports fan, present at all games in the surrounding country for years.
He leaves his wife, Lillian; two children, Norman Jean Miracle of San Dimas,California and Richard Baxter Baird of San Gabriel, California; a sister, Mrs. Walter Connally of Jet, Oklahoma; three granddaughters; two grandsons and one great grandson.
