Nobility. Duke of Bisceglie. Born the illegitimate son of King Alfonso II of Naples by his mistress Trogia Gazzela. In 1498 he was married to Lucrezia Borgia to strengthen the ties between Naples and the Borgia family. He was attacked on July, 15th 1500 and severely wounded. His sister Sancha and his wife took over his care, but three days later a group of armed men entered the chambers and strangled him. The funeral was held by Francesco Borgia, archbishop of Cosenza. He was buried in the ancient church of Santa Maria delle Febbri, beside the old Basilica of Saint Peter. The church was demolished when the new Basilica was built. The center of Santa Maria delle Febbri lies today beneath the north-east corner of the Sacristy of Saint Peters Basilica.
