US Congressman. Originally a member of the Democratic Party, he served for two consecutive terms in the US House of Representatives from Pennsylvania's 25th congressional district from January 1979 until January 1983. In October 1981 he switched to the Republican Party and was defeated in the 1982 election by Democrat Joseph P. Kolter. He died at the age of 89.
