She was a long time member of Parkdale Baptist Church and would often volunteer in the care center. Allene and Charles loved to dance and belonged to several ballroom dance clubs such as the Revelaires Dance Club. They were active people and enjoyed many hobbies in addition to dancing including gardening, bird watching and travelling the world. Allene also had a love of pets which resulted in two dogs and many, many, many cats. She will always be remembered for her sunny smile and sweet nature.
Allene received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing Education in 1951 from the University of Texas at Austin, and received her Master of Science degree in 1971 from Texas A&I University-Kingsville. She worked as a nursing instructor for the James R. Dougherty Jr. School of Nursing until it closed in 1968 and then for the Del Mar College Registered Nursing Program until she retired in 1988.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Pearson; parents, Frank and Lottie Wichita; brother, Frank Wichita; and sister, Betty Jean Jannasch.
Visitation will be held at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, September 16, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Entombment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
