Dorothy "Dort" Thomas was born at the turn of the 20th century.. In some ways she was a pioneer. She was a flapper. She played piano "by ear" for the silent movies. She had the courage to take a chance and move from Iowa out to California to marry Harold Rohrer Thomas and seek her fortune. She loved her "highballs" and is famous for using the phrase "yay beau". She was a handful but made an impact which is felt even today.
