Lois Elizabeth Mattox Fleming born February 12, 1923 to Ida McGauley Mattox and Joseph Oscar Mattox in Jesup, GA went home to our heavenly father on September 16, 2016. She moved from Jesup to Jacksonville, FL the last of December 1941. She married James Lawrence Fleming on February 17, 1944. They were married almost 55 years when he died on January 6, 1999. Lois lived in their home over 72 years except for 15 months during WWII. She was a member of the former Avondale Baptist Church for nearly 62 years and currently a member of Lake Shore Baptist Church.

Mrs. Fleming was preceded in death by her sister, Marion Mattox Simmons; and 3 brothers: Joseph Parker Mattox, Alton Payne Mattox, and James Oscar Mattox. She is survived by her daughter, Beverly E. Fleming; and her son, Larry Fleming (wife, Connie); as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 111 Blanding Blvd, Orange Park. A service in celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday morning at Lake Shore Baptist Church, 2363 Blanding Blvd, Jacksonville. Pastor Steve Mouzon will officiate. Interment will follow in Jacksonville Memory Gardens Cemetery.
